Blue Ridge Mountain Cloggers

MAGGIE VALLEY, NC -- May 4, 2013

Congratulation to our double solo champion winner!

Kelley Addington won Overall Champion Female in both the traditional and contemporary categories.  I believe Kelley really enjoyed the trip to dance on the Grand Ole Opry and wants another trup.     Just some of the many awards won by the dancers of Blue Ridge Mountain Cloggers.

The Stompin' Ground in Maggie Valley, NC is the clogging capital of the world and this weekend the dancers of BRMC left their mark on the hallowed wooden floor of this historic site known to cloggers the world over.  Leading the way in this day was Kelley Addington who totally dominated the female solo competition.  We also had many other individual dancers place very well as witnessed by 19 total individual awards with 9 first place awards.

The commitment and dedication of our dancers and teams was rewarded by us receiving three team championship awards:  Overall Elementary Team; Overall Junior Team and Grand Champion Junior Division Team.   This overall Junior Division team was earned from the traditional line performance of Shady Grove and "Heartbreak Mountain". Mountain Edition Precision was the champion Elementary team with the precision routine.  Other teams placing first were Mountain Edition Hoedown and the new line routine to "Best Shot"

Shady Grove on the way to earning Overall Junior Champion team honors with an absolutely breathtaking performance of their traditional line routine.    Shady Grove Traditional Line continued it's winning ways - being named as Overall Champion of the Junior division.

Joey shows some of his skills in the contemporary solo category that earnied him a spot in the dance off in both contemporary & traditional categories.  Our dancers were really sharp in the solo competition.  Unfortunately in such a large competition, everyone can't get recognized.  One of our newest dancers in her very first solo competition - Great job!

We should all be very proud of our solo dancers for persevering through a very long solo competition and representing us so well.  Although we did not have the number of dancers placing at this competition that we have it was a great day for many.  you could also tell when our dancers were there because they were always smooth dancers that had a smile on their face and showed great sportsmanship to their competitors.  A summary of our solo winners is below.
