Blue Ridge Mountain Cloggers

CAPITAL CITY CLOGGING CLASSIC

COLUMBIA, SC -- February 12, 2011

Mountain Wildfire poses with their trophy and the cash they won as a result of winning overall Grand Champion Elementary Team with their Traditional Line Dance to "Rocky Top" .

How does the BRMC Family celebrate a day when three dancers are having birthdays?  We go to a clogging competition together of course.  For the first time our team competed in the Capital City Clogging Classic at Lexington High School.  It was a very good day with a lot of fun times spent together and many awards earned.  Birthdays were celebrated by Madison Addington, Emma Burrell, and Becky Durham.  We appreciate the opportunity to celebrate your special day with you.

While the day proved to be very long, our dancers were rewarded with many team and individual accomplishments.  Since the day promised to be a very long day, we decided to only bring our Elementary and younger teams.  This proved to be a very wise decision as even with this limited lineup, we still had a full day.  Mountain Wildfire led the way for the teams present winning first place in both traditional line and line formation categories.  Mountain Express and Mountain Edition also had good days, placing and representing us well in the precision, hoedown and traditional line categories.

Our duos and duets as well as solo dancers also represented us very well and the crowning moment came when Abbey and Callie earned overall champion honors with their show routine to Oz.  This has proven to be a very popular and crowd pleasing routine.  Great job ladies.  Our other duets and dues also earned 1st and 2nd place honors.  We had several dancers to place in solo competition and we are very proud of each one that placed and received callbacks in this very competitive event.

Mountain Express - Still relatively a new team in Traditional Line and has just moved up to the Pee Wee age division is doing an awesome job.  Keep up the hard work.  The Energy from Mountain Wildfire to their Rocky Top Routine is always AWESOME--Once again the judges thought so as well.  1st Place.

As a BRMC dancer you sometimes find yourself competing against your friend or even your sister.  A great personal lesson in sportsmanship,  It is so neat to see them cheer each other on as they all give it their personal best.

Who are we?? B - R - M - C! ... and proud of it!
